Monday Memories #34 - Justice League of America #162

Each Monday this year I'll be taking a look back at a random comic, prestige format issue, graphic novel or collection of reprints from amongst my 3,000 or so comics that date from 1962 to 2003 - I figured anything in the last ten years would be too recent to hark back to.

The comics are chosen completely at random and apart from a four week lead-in period, even I don't know what I'll be looking at in the weeks to come!

Who Was Who Is Who #40

So for want of anything better to write about on a Monday, I'm going to go through all my copies of Who's Who and see if I can predict who will make it over to the new DCU by the end of 2012, who might make it and who hasn't got a Shimmer's chance.

THE SECRET SOCIETY OF SUPER-VILLAINS - there's been a couple of big gatherings of super-villains over the last few years, particularly in Infinite Crisis, Justice League of America and Final Crisis but I don't think they've ever reached the heights of the the late 70s grouping. Will they continue to band together in the New 52? Probably, but I doubt the somewhat cheesy name will be retained. Either way, I doubt it will be before year's end.

Friday Night Fights - Green Lantern Vs The Los Angeles Chronicle

This is it: the championship bout, the final fight of Spacebooger's round of battles where the bad guys win. Those of us who were lucky enough to win one of the twelve initial rounds have to post a final fight tonight to decide the overall winner and I'm once more going for the lucky rabbit's foot that is Green Lantern Hal Jordan being defeated by the lamest villain I could find:

That's the Shark that GL's going up against this time, a villain who had a small appearance in the latest Green Lantern series as a bigger and badder villain but he's not the enemy that Jordan has to watch out for this time round . . .

GL's power ring might protect him from mortal harm but it's no use against a discarded copy of the Los Angeles Chronicle!

And with the Lantern distracted and confused, the Shark takes advantage of the Chronicle's attack and pretty much wipes Lantern's mind . . .

. . . leaving him covered by the Chronicle, "the very instrument of his downfall"!
