Friday Night Fights - Of Cats And Crocs

It's Friday so, as usual, Spacebooger demands carnage!

Having just completed the annotations for Armageddon 2001 over at the Annotated DC Project (yes, that's a blatant plug) I thought I'd stick with the subject for tonight's brawl so come with me to the future, to the strange world of . . . er . . . 2001 . . .

Anyway, in 2001 (you know, the future) Gotham City's a slightly different place. The Joker has been declared sane and has his own talk show, most of Batman's villains are dead and the main man himself is in jail having been convicted of murdering the Penguin. Catwoman doesn't believe the charge and sets out to find evidence of his innocence, coming up against Killer Croc . . . who's a TV wrestling star. I tell you, 2001 was weird . . .

Not surprisingly, Killer Croc isn't interested in talking:

I love the idea that Croc has to do his own accounts!

Still, Catwoman's not taking no for an answer:

Doesn't she realise he's going to need to file those papers?!

Man, Catwoman kicks Croc's scaly hide all over the shop!

And just like that, she's won!

And Croc expresses his indignity as only he can!

Armageddon Is Here

It's done - the notes for Armageddon 2001, the tie-in annuals, and the sequel Armageddon: The Alien Agenda are all now available at the Annotated DC Project.

There are a couple of unknowns in the first issue which I'll be collating (hopefully) later today and putting in a single post here on the blog but for now, it's all up and running.

Blackest Night #8 Annotations Done!

I've just published the notes for the final issue of Blackest Night over at (where else?) the Annotated Blackest Night.

There's a handful of unknowns that I need to collate on to the Help Needed page at the site; I need to update the Character Map but other than that, it's pretty much done and dusted.

Notes For Green Lantern #49 Done

Just posted the notes for Green Lantern #49 over at the Annotated Blackest Night.

Next will be the full annotations for Blackest Night #6, then the Character Map update, then Blackest Night: JSA #1.

Because of that, anyone waiting for the annotations to Underworld Unleashed over at the Annotated DC Project (which I have started) will have to wait a wee bit longer!

The Annotated DC Project - Help Needed

No Friday Night Fight tonight, I'm afraid - been way too busy to do much of any fun and I'm away this weekend as well.

However, just time to sneak in a quick announcement - with cries of "You have too much time on your hands!" ringing in my ears, it's my pleasure to reveal yet another site full of annotations:

Back when I first annotated Infinite Crisis, I made no secret of the fact that Jonathan Woodward's excellent site annotating Crisis on Infinite Earths was a huge influence on me. As good as Jonathan's site is, I have to admit I was always a little annoyed that I didn't get the chance to annotate COIE, one of my all time favourite stories.

A few months ago I kinda thought - well, what's stopping me annotating Crisis...? Or, indeed, any of the other big DC stories? Thus was born the Annotated DC Project.

So far it has notes for Crisis... as well as Zero Hour - while most people into Crisis... and who read annotations will have been aware of Jonathan's site and may not find that much new in my notes (though I did find a few things he had missed!) I wanted to launch it with something new as well, hence the notes for Zero Hour.

My intention is to write up notes for other series as well and this is where I need your help. Over on the right is a poll listing the series I'm considering doing next. Click the ones you'd like to see done (you can select more than one) and the series with the highest number of votes gets picked - if you think of something not on the list, leave a comment and let me know. Who'd Like A Cocktail? #53

Back from having the best part of a week off and spending most of it working on the DC Project, I should be returning to more frequent posts. In the meantime, have a cocktail:

• The Boys #34 - World War II re-enactments were never like this!
• Final Crisis Aftermath: Run! #5 - still the most entertaining of the Final Crisis Aftermath series, I'll be sad when this is over.
• Justice League: Cry For Justice #3 - I was all ready to hate this having been sadly disappointed with the first two issues: I mean Green Arrow being okay with torturing villains? Just not going to happen. The dialogue is still leaden but with the emphasis shifted to Prometheus it's slightly better than #1 and #2. God knows if that'll continue, though.
• Red Tornado #1 - I kinda liked this. It's not earth-shattering but I've always liked Red Tornado and for six issues I'll play along.
• Strange Adventures #7 - oh, Jim Starlin you little scamp! Where are you going with this now?
• The Walking Dead Vol 7: The Calm Before - not a new release but I've been picking up the trades of this series for some time. With the cliffhanger this finishes on, I might need to track down Vol 8 sooner rather than later.
• Wednesday Comics #9 - still ticking over nicely with The Flash, Deadman and Hawkman standing out this week for me.

More Annotations Than You Could Possibly Imagine

Been a bit quiet here this last week, mostly due to me celebrating my birthday - I reached the grand old age of 40 last Tuesday and my wife and I have been out enjoying ourselves and will be for the next week as well.

Plus I've been working on something in the background that I've wanted to do for a while now - more annotations for more DC comics. I'll reveal all once it's ready, though that might be some time.

Anyhow, Blackest Night: Titans #1 hit this week, along with Green Lantern #45 so notes will be up for those as soon as possible over at the Annotated Blackest Night.
