Despite Superman's protests, Max Lord still has a hand in the League's business and after defeating the Weapons Master (see last week's entry) Lord does a deal with the UN which gets the team their own, brand new building right next to that of the UN.

JUSTICE LEAGUE SPECTACULAR #1 - written by Dan Jurgens and Gerard Jones with art by Dan Jurgens, Ron Randall, Rick Burchett and Randy Elliott.


JUSTICE LEAGUE AMERICA #61 - #62 - written by Dan Jurgens with art by Dan Jurgens, Rick Burchett and Jackson 'Butch' Guice.

Before we delve into the issues, a quick bit of background as to how we got here. The Giffen / DeMatteis (and Jones) runs on Justice League America and Justice League Europe came to an end with the Breakdowns storyline which saw both branches of the League dissolve after facing various foes. The one-off Justice League Spectacular featured new writers Dan Jurgens, who would take over the American branch, and Gerard Jones who was now writing the European team without Giffen.

Who'd Like A Cocktail? #70

• The Boys #39 - the crap gets ready to hit the fan as Butcher discovers just who Wee Hughie's been dating.
• Doom Patrol #7 - woah, wait a second - when did Oberon get that head of hair?!
• Metal Men co-feature - ah, farewell Metal Men, it was good fun while it lasted.
• Justice Society of America Annual #2 - this ties in nicely with events in Magog and the JSA All-Stars, so much so that if you haven't read Magog you might be a little lost. There were a lot of questions when Magog received his ongoing series, many revolving around why such a minor character who was also a pain in the arse should have a series. Turns out, written by Keith Giffen, it's not so bad and this issue goes some way to rounding out - or at least highlighting - who he is. He's a jerk who, as Power Girl says, is "going about this the wrong way . . . but he's doing the right thing."
• The Question #37 - another done in one Blackest Night tie-in. It was okay but I find Sienkiewicz's art just plain ugly.
• Red Tornado #6 - and the mini-series comes to an end rather quietly. That's not a criticism; if anything, the reaction of Red Inferno was somewhat fitting. I wish DC writers/artists would get a handle on how old Traya is and how she speaks - wasn't she in her early teens in Young Justice? Here she looks to be about 5 or 6.

Maybe the joke's a little obvious but Maguire's artwork sells it.

Friday Night Fights - Invasion!

Hard to believe I've posted nothing all week; my only excuse consists of four initials and a Roman numeral: GTA IV.

Still, there's always time for a bit of violence and to celebrate the release of the paperback of Invasion!, here's Mr Miracle side-kick and JLI liaison Oberon fighting a bunch of Khunds:

But those Khunds are tiny! Miniaturised in a teleportation snafu, the 3' 7" (I checked Who's Who!) Oberon finally gets to be the big man! At least for a second or two . . .

Thanks to a spare Blue Beetle flash gun, though, he's able to win out!

Oberon saves the day in his own (ahem) small way, though Bahlactus could have taken the entire Invasion! force single handed!

I promise to get back into the swing of posts this week; after all, I was probably the only (mostly) DC-centric blog not to discuss DC Universe #0! For the record, I really enjoyed it despite it having bugger all to do with Countdown To Final Crisis.
