WTF Was That All About? Part 1
Last week saw the final gatefold covers of DC's aborted WTF Certified event in April. The name of the now non-event was widely derided after it was revealed, and rightly so, but the covers themselves - the main cover supplemented by a surprise on the gatefold - was a neat idea. I tried to remain as spoiler free as I could, both in the run up to it when covers were being released on the net, and in my weekly Cocktail posts.
Now it's all over, I figure it's time for a quick look at the ones I bought. So, in alphabetical order...

All That Glitters
Last week in Justice League, we saw various heroes try out for positions on team, including the latest version of Platinum from the Metal Men. Trouble is - as these situations so, so often do - there was a bit of a brawl when Platinum lost her equilibrium.
At one point, she threw Firestorm, Blue Devil and Goldrush away from her:
but luckily, Flash caught Goldrush:
A call back to the fact that earlier she'd been flirting with him. Skipping over the fact that Vixen's left leg appears to have been amputated, cast your eye over Goldrush - for a woman who's covered in golden armour, she looks awfully . . . pink.
There you go, the latest in the range of colouring corrections from Crisis on Earth-Prime.
Feel free to ignore this post if it later turns out her gold armour vanishes if she's knocked unconscious or something.

DC's May Solicitations
Rather than do a straightforward Don't Ask post, I thought I'd take a look at a few titles this month.
The Green Team and The Movement . . . I'm sort of tempted by these, mostly because of Gail Simone's involvement if I'm honest. A pair of possibles, I think.

DC's April Solicitations
Just a brief look at a few things that caught my eye in the solicitations from DC, over and above my normal Don't Ask... post from yesterday.
AQUAMAN #19 - sports a lovely cover and asks "The Ice King takes the throne as the true king of Atlantis—but who will be the first to kneel before him?" I suppose it's way too much to ask for a connection between this guy and Ice, is it?

New Direction For Firestorm
There's a good (if short) interview with Dan Jurgens over at CBR where he talks about his plans for Firestorm which he takes over as writer/penciller from #13. Of the few things that caught my eye, this one made me happiest:
"There was a time when Firestorm was one of the strongest characters and strongest sellers in the DCU. He represented a certain youthful breath of fresh air in the DCU and I want to bring that back. He's a fun character who tends to have fun, wild stories. That feeling has to be on the page and get across to the reader."Thank you, Mr Jurgens - I've said time and again that I like my comics to have some fun in them and it's nice to hear someone else thinks so too.

Firestorm #15
From the solicitation:
Firestorm vs. Captain Atom!Firestorm and Cap just had to end up going against each other, didn't they?! And the hints of a "disturbing new force"? Is that tied in with Orion and the New Gods getting a mention in Wonder Woman?
Two of the most powerful heroes in the universe go head to head, and things are going to EXPLODE!
Don’t miss this issue’s shocking conclusion as the first hints of a disturbing new force in the DCU are seen!
