Who'd Like A Cocktail? #118

Scandal gets to grips with fighting the Doom Patrol

These are shorter than normal as I'm away this weekend!

  • BOOSTER GOLD #41 - hmm, little to laugh about here as Booster saves the day but ends up in jail back in the 25th Century, starting a five year prison term. I'm guessing this'll all be sorted by the end of #43 . . . you know, when Dan Jurgens returns in time to crossover with Flashpoint.
  • THE BOYS #51 - this, on the other hand, was a hoot. Sure, the serious sub-plot comes to a conclusion and it would be easy to miss a couple of important things but the scenes with "Monkey" Kessler were just spot on.
  • BRIGHTEST DAY #20 - as Aquaman defeats the invasion, the White Ring proves itself to be a bit of a dick once more. You know, the whole putting problems in the heroes way in order to see what they do has more than a hint of Zoom's methodology about it.
  • DOOM PATROL #19 - Larry was right - there was a pelican following him! A splendid finish to the Secret Six crossover and the Doom Patrol get their marching orders . . . just in time to be cancelled for Flashpoint.
  • GREEN LANTERN CORPS #57 - okay, anyone see that coming? The Weaponer joining the Sinestro Corps? Nice little finish. Only complaint from me was Soranik Natu blaming Kyle Rayner for bringing Sinestro to Qward - don't you go breaking those pair up, Bedard: Rayner needs a break as far as relationships go.
  • JENNIFER BLOOD #1 - ah, a new Garth Ennis book. A fairly standard juxtaposition between suburban mom and secret killer introduction gives way to a damn fine first issue. Well worth a read.
  • JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA #54 - so Eclipso's back up and running then? A quick wander round the DCU picking up shadow-weaving characters here and there in order to further his grand scheme. Didn't we do this once, already? Back in the early 90's?
And what made me smile:

All because I instantly thought of this.
