Adverts in old comics - we've all seen them, haven't we? X-Ray Specs, spy cameras and radio watches: they were all over the place in the old days. But what about some of the other classified ads that were dotted around?
A bedroom door lock - exactly what every teenage boy wants. You know . . . for keeping the door locked . . . just when he needs to . . .
Anyway . . . "the O'Leary portable deadbolt lock" was a steal at just 9 bucks. I mean, c'mon - it's portable! Don't believe me or the ad? Check this out: the patent for the damn thing! This is what it looked like:
Only $9! Who wouldn't pay such a paltry sum for security and piece of mind . . . when he wants to?
Maybe you're locking yourself away to improve yourself? Maybe your mental agility needs a bit of work? We've got just the thing:
Brainercise! It's like exercise . . . for your brain! Do you see what they did there? Brain + Exercise = Brainercise!
Man, how smart do you have to be to come up with that? And what do you know - you can still buy the book.
After all that studying, you're probably in the mood for some fun.
Awesome fun!
A hand-held Batwing water blaster - "A must for collectors!" Just $6.95 or $6.50 each if you buy two or more!
And guess what - you can buy the damn thing from Amazon right now for just over $12! In twenty years it hasn't even doubled in price! You have no idea how tempting that is right now.
Damn, I love the internet.
