Monday Memories #17 - Titans/Young Justice: Graduation Day #3
Each Monday this year I'll be taking a look back at a random comic, prestige format issue, graphic novel or collection of reprints from amongst my 3,000 or so comics that date from 1962 to 2003 - I figured anything in the last ten years would be too recent to hark back to.
The comics are chosen completely at random and apart from a four week lead-in period, even I don't know what I'll be looking at in the weeks to come!

Lego Marvel Trailer
Oh yeah!
While definitely a DC man, I shall be getting this.

Mega-City Graffiti
Reading Judge Dredd: Day of Chaos: Fourth Faction over the weekend and I came across this:
Check out the Watchmen logo and, on the left, some graffiti that accompanies it:
There's a small plug for Ma-Ma, the villain from the excellent Dredd film and a slight dig at the Watchmen film all in one panel!
You gotta love 2000AD.

DC Superhero Redesigns
These redesigns by Michael Lee Lunsford attracted a fair bit of attention last week as people looked at them and either thought "Cool, nice work," or (as so often happens on the internet) "What are you doing? You've ruined her!"
I happen to like them, I have to admit. They're easily recognisable as the characters, they contain elements of the classic looks of each of them and they're a step away from the spray painted costumes most characters - male and female - wear in superhero comics these days.
Good work Mr Lunsford, I say.
There are a few other redesigns on his blog, including characters from other publishers but, being the slave to DC that I am, I picked out my favourites.

DC's July Solicitations
The big news from DC's July solicitations was the reveal of Trinity War not as a standalone mini-series as most events have been, but as a story running across the various Justice League titles. Justice League, JL Dark and JL of America will host the main story with, at the very least, Trinity of Sin: Pandora and Trinity of Sin: Phantom Stranger feeling the effects at the same time.
I wouldn't discount a number of one-shots tying in with it either.

Dredd Sequel
As much as people seemed to enjoy the Dredd movie last year, it didn't do anywhere near the business it needed to ensure a sequel which is a darn shame.
Looks like 2000 AD will be picking it up, though, in September so no budget worries there. Yay!

So True
Busy, busy, busy in my neck of the woods at the moment - not even time to through together some thoughts on the Trinity War news earlier this week. Maybe tomorrow.

Everything New (52) Is Old Again
Okay, maybe not everything, but it's been revealed that Power Girl isn't the only hero returning to her classic look, or at least an approximation of it.
Zatanna's heading over to join the Justice League in a few issues and is changing into an outfit very close to that worn when she was part of the satellite era League:
All she's missing is those big round earrings with the Z on them.
Hooray for the Newly Old 52!

Saying What We All Thought
A blog reader (cheers, Adam) sent me the above which made me chuckle as Power Girl clearly thought what we all did when the new look was revealed. Of course, we all know by now the classic look's returning so no worries there.
By the way, I don't know who the artist is but if anyone recognises the symbol on the left of the pic, let me know and I'll put up a link to their web page or, at the very least, credit them.

Perusing Previews - April 2013
According to the solicitation, Animals With Sharpies contains pictures of animals using Sharpies pens to write messages dealing with "political and religious tracts, confessions, recipes, arithmetic problems and more. Above all, these paintings are funny"
Can I suggest that if you're pushing a book containing "funny" pictures, you might want to put a better one on the cover?
