I'm On Holiday

Make sure you enjoy yourselves, be nice to each other and tidy up after you've finished. All being well, I'll be back on the weekend with the usual Sunday Cocktail post.

Monday Memories #34 - Justice League of America #162

Each Monday this year I'll be taking a look back at a random comic, prestige format issue, graphic novel or collection of reprints from amongst my 3,000 or so comics that date from 1962 to 2003 - I figured anything in the last ten years would be too recent to hark back to.

The comics are chosen completely at random and apart from a four week lead-in period, even I don't know what I'll be looking at in the weeks to come!

Preacher Movie Still Alive?

Trust me, I'm as surprised as any of you but according to this item, the film's not dead, merely resting. I know I'm not the first to say that a multi-season TV series like Deadwood or The Walking Dead would be a better format for it but if it gets made in whatever way, I'll go and see it.

Mention was made in the article about Chris Pine playing Jesse Custer - I think he's a little too Hollywood leading man myself, though I did chuckle at the line:
Transformers star Shia LaBeouf reportedly interested in playing "Arseface."
Far be it from me to imply poetic justice for both the Transformers rubbish and the last Indiana Jones film.

DC's November Solicitations

FOREVER EVIL #3
With the world under the rule of the mysterious and deadly Crime Syndicate and our greatest heroes dead, it’s up to the unlikeliest of defenders to rise up to save us—humanity’s only hope—Lex Luthor?!
So looks like my guess of the Crime Syndicate's involvement in Forever Evil was right.

Perusing Previews - August 2013

Oh sure, DC will bring their animated universe in line with the New 52 with the release of the Flashpoint Paradox but when it comes to coffee mugs, they're firmly stuck in the 70's.

Not saying that's a bad thing...

Monday Memories #32 - Justice League Of Arkham

Each Monday this year I'll be taking a look back at a random comic, prestige format issue, graphic novel or collection of reprints from amongst my 3,000 or so comics that date from 1962 to 2003 - I figured anything in the last ten years would be too recent to hark back to.

Justice League 3000 Minus One

Well this bit of news was a bummer: Kevin Maguire is no longer drawing the new series Justice League 3000 by Keith Giffen and JM DeMatteis. Perusing my copy of Previews this weekend, I was all ready to add this to my pull list but I'm not sure I'll bother now.

Apparently the concept of the book is being reworked so what's in Previews may not resemble the book we'll get.

Oh DC, why do you keep doing these things?

Thor 2 Trailer

The new poster landed last week and now the trailer's out there:

I watched it with a big grin on my face which got bigger as they showed Asgard and I actually thought "Wow," just a moment before Padme . . . oops, I mean Jane Foster appeared on screen and said the very same word.

There's quite a bit of Loki, some gorgeous scenery and a final clip that, honestly, I think could have done with being cut shot of the punch line - you know, leave something for the film.

That said, this looks great.

No Cocktail Today

Why not, I hear you ask. Because this:

is the only comic on my pull list that's out this week.

One. Sodding. Comic.

I shall put my feet up and relax instead of writing short reviews today, if that's all the same to you.

New Thor Poster

I've seen no trailer, I've kept away from the behind the scenes footage, I've heard no rumours of plot, I even waited two days before watching Tom Hiddleston bask in the adoration of his fans at Comic Con . . .

But blimey, that's a cool poster.
