Who Was Who Is Who #25

So for want of anything better to write about on a Monday, I'm going to go through all my copies of Who's Who and see if I can predict who will make it over to the new DCU by the end of 2012, who might make it and who hasn't got a Lady Lunar's chance.

KRONA - I suppose you could claim Krona was the DCU's original bad guy what with causing the Multiverse to be born with less energy than it was supposed to. Still, those uber-cosmic crimes are no longer something he gets up to as he was last seen stealing rings and power batteries and entities (oh my!) in Green Lantern before being killed by Hal Jordan. Unlikely he'll be back before the end of 2012.

KRYPTO - apparently he's shown in the reboot on Krypton without powers but that still counts for me.

KRYPTON - yeah it's been seen but it's a planet, people - I'm only interested in the characters.

KRYPTONITE - I'd make a guess and say it's too early (this is being written at the start of March) for Kryptonite to shows its multifaceted face but even if it's been shown in all the colours of the rainbow, I'm still not counting it.

KULAK - an old enemy of the Spectre who had a walk on part in All-Star Squadron years ago. He ain't showing up.

KUNG - another All-Star Squadron villain, I don't think we need to worry about him showing up again.

LADY CHIAN - still heard nothing about the fate of Skataris or the Warlord (written in March, remember) so I think it unlikely we'll see her before the end of 2012.

LADY LUNAR - ah, the Silver Age where trainee astronauts harbouring villainous alter-egos triggered by moonlight were two-a-penny. We'll not be seeing her again.

LADY QUARK - last survivor of Earth-6, following Crisis she joined L.E.G.I.O.N. where she ended up getting killed. That didn't stop her, though, and she was around during Infinite Crisis as well but it's yet to be seen whether she'll show up post-Flashpoint. I wouldn't wait up too long.

LEAGUE OF ASSASSINS - having read Justice League #6 last week (March, people - lead time!), I think Ra's is down to be one of the next bad guys the League faces, though I could be wrong but I'm putting the League of Assassins down as a possible.

THE LEAGUE OF SUPER-ASSASSINS - while some of these characters might be kicking around (pretty sure Blok is the same one who ended up in Legion) I don't think we'll be seeing the League as a group before year's end. Dave Sopko, the official COEP Legion go to guy, says "The members were last seen as members of the Superman Prime crew.  Doubt they will show again for a while though."

LEGION ACADEMY - this is the building and thus not being included in my counts. Move along. Move alone.

THE LEGION OF SUBSTITUTE-HEROES - again, while some of these guys might show up, will we see an established Substitute group in the pages of Legion? I think not and Dave agrees saying "While the Subs came back on a good way with Geoff Johns in Action Comics, I do not think we will be seeing them again any time soon."

LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES - while the Legion's history / origins and membership may be different from the one featured in the original Who's Who, the group themselves managed to survive post-Flashpoint and has their own title so go into the in-place column. Individual members will be dealt with in their own listings.

LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES HEADQUARTERS - another building, another one I'm not interested in.

So in summary, two already in place (Krypto and the Legion) no definite predictions and one possible (League of Assassins)

  1. I think we've seen some green K affecting Supie in Action Comics. But I'd have to check, my memory is terrible.

Ah, Lady Quark - Crisis on Infinite Earths kills Supergirl, Flash and thousands more, but gives us Lady Quark, Harbinger and Pariah. Oh dear.

  3. Blok is indeed the same Blok that joined the LSH and is still around hanging out with the Black (White) Witch.
