DC's May Solicitations

Five years from now, the DC Universe is reeling from a war with another Earth, leaving the world unprepared for an approaching evil that threatens to destroy the future. Can a time-traveling Batman Beyond help a massive cast of the DCU’s finest avert the impending apocalypse? Find out in this new weekly series that will forever alter the direction of The New 52! In this debut issue of The New 52’s weekly series, Batman Beyond arrives five years later! Grifter turns against humanity! And a Justice League member DIES!
Okay, a new weekly series sounds fun - you got me, DC. I just wish we were past then whole idea of the death of a character being a story hook.

“UPRISING” part 2! As the Corps reels from the Battle for Mogo, John Stewart leads a team of Green Lanterns into the heart of enemy territory on a desperate rescue mission to save the Lanterns abducted by the Durlans and the Khund. This prison break is like nothing you’ve ever seen before! And as the Durlans train their sights on the next battlefield in the war, a long-lost member of the Corps returns! Continued from this month’s GREEN LANTERN #31!
A long lost member returns, eh? Sodam Yat, anybody? Pretty sure we haven't seen him since the New 52 was launched.

In Canada, the team of Animal Man, Green Arrow, Martian Manhunter and Stargirl is joined by Adam Strange to fight an unstoppable forced called the Unimaginable.
So it's not Justice League Canada any more but it's by Lemire so I'll definitely give this a go.

In these stories, heroes including the Atomic Knights, Kamandi and Hercules must face a post-apocalyptic future brought about by the mysterious “Great Disaster” in the run of Atomic Knights tales from STRANGE ADVENTURES, plus 1ST ISSUE SPECIAL #1, HERCULES UNBOUND #1-10, KAMANDI #43-46, WEIRD WAR TALES #22, 23, 30, 32, 40, 42-44, 46-49, 51-53, 64, 68, 69 and 123, HOUSE OF MYSTERY #318, SUPERMAN #295, HOUSE OF SECRETS #86, 95 and 97, THE UNEXPECTED #215 and 221 and AMAZING WORLD OF DC COMICS #12.
Oh, why not, eh?!

The lives of Tom Strong’s daughter Tesla and her unborn child hang in the balance, and to save them Tom and Val Var Garm must journey to the far side of the galaxy and the mysterious world known as Terra Obscura!
This is one to pick up and put aside until I catch up with the first run of Tom Strong trades!

  1. I guess the idea doesn't sound bad(and usually these things don't) but even this'll drag on with no real end in sight. I'm just glad Grifter, a Wildstorm character whose universe has been unofficially designated as the ugly stepchild of the DCU, is featured front and center.
I'm just curious why now do something on this scale, when the NU52 hasn't even been around for 5 years yet.

JLCanada looks decent enough though, especially with that type of roster.
I could be wrong., and really pessimistic, but unless Lemire really is a star-attraction now, I don't see this book lasting too too long. Hell, DC should really troll marvel, and turn this book into a Guardians of the Galaxy-type book....just set in you know, Canada. Eh?
