Who Was Who Is Who #47

So for want of anything better to write about on a Monday, I'm going to go through all my copies of Who's Who and see if I can predict who will make it over to the new DCU by the end of 2012, who might make it and who hasn't got a Tobias Whale's chance.

TIM TRENCH - a private investigator linked with Wonder Woman, I don't think even that association will be enough to get him back in the DCU.

TITANO - come on, Gorilla Grodd's the only giant gorilla we need in the DCU, surely? I doubt that Superman needs this bad guy again.

TITANS OF MYTH - it's possible some of these may be appearing in the pages of Wonder Woman which is focusing more on the Greek gods side of things these days. As a group, though, they're more closely tied to the Teen Titans and I think that association's pretty much forgotten.

TNT AND DAN THE DYNA-MITE - even after using them in Golden Age (or perhaps because of it) I can't see even James Robinson resurrecting these two in Earth-2.

TOBIAS WHALE - a Black Lightning villain, I think there's more chance of Captain Carrot coming back.

TOKAMAK - briefly appeared towards the end of the last Firestorm series but can't see him coming back into the new one somehow.

TOMAHAWK AND DAN HUNTER - both probably a bit too early to benefit from All Star Western so unless there's a flashback story somewhere, I don't think we'll see this pair.

TOMAHAWK'S RANGERS - and the same applies to these guys who hung round with him.

TOMMY TOMORROW - don't think Tommy's appeared for some time so sort of think it unlikely that he'll show up for some time, if you see what I mean.

T.O. MORROW - Thomas Oscar Morrow is alive and well in the new DCU in his pre-mad scientist state as he's appeared in the pages of Justice League. Whether he'll go loopy and create the Red Tornado has yet to be seen.

THE TOP - despite having played a large part in the pre-Flashpoint history of the Flash, I'm not sure that the Top's ever really been one of Flash's Rogues. For that reason, he's going into the possibles at the moment.

TOY-MAN - a classic Silver Age Superman villain, it wouldn't surprise me if Grant Morrison revamped and reimagined him for the modern era but I don't think it'll happen soon.

MATT SAVAGE, TRAIL BOSS - yet another Old West hero that could easily turn up in the pages of All Star Western so goes into the possible column just in case.

THE TRICKSTER - while the original was killed during the whole Countdown to Final Crisis thing that mostly didn't work, there was another, younger version who has to date (early April) been seen in the pages of The Flash but not in costume. He'll go into the possible column, just in case.

TRIGGER TWINS - while I think it more than likely we'll get to see the Trigger Twins in the pages of All Star Western I'm concious that if all the Old West heroes show up, there'll be no room for Jonah Hex! As ever, though, these will go into the possible column.

TRIGON THE TERRIBLE - father of the Teen Titan Raven who has yet to show up so I'm guessing we won't be seeing him around here either.

So in summary one in place (T.O. Morrow) no definite predictions and four possibles (The Top, Matt Savage, Trickster and the Trigger Twins)

  1. (And as you may well know ...) Tobias Whale is back in the Black Lightning/Blue Devil strip in DC Universe Presents. (And the Upcoming Threshold has a character whose name is reminiscent of Captain Carrot - we'll see!)

Titano's been seen in Action - or was it Superman?

And Trigon was in Phantom Stranger.

Is no one at DC creating new IP?

  2. I didn't know Tobias Whale was back, actually!

So for this week I said no Tobias, no Titano, no Trigon and no Tomahawk and they've all turned up!

    Cheers as always, Martin!
